More rainy winters in Minnesota portend a crazy ride ahead.

Standard

I’ve been experiencing winters in the Twin Cities since 2008 and every year feels just a little bit more ominous than the previous.

This year I’ve definitely felt a far rainier winter – just as much, if not more, precipitation coming down as rain or sleet; Rather than snow. You don’t need to take my word for it (or if you live in the city, then your own personal experiences). Just check out the piece below by meteorologist Sven Sundgaard.

It’s been happening since the 1950s and yes, it has indeed been getting wetter.

The bit that really got me though was this very simple meteorological fact that “when you move the average, you exponentially increase the probability of extreme events.”

This is scary.

And interesting.

Scarily interesting is what this is…

Hoping for the best is about all I can think to do.
